Robert’s films had a big impact on me as a kid. I was born in 1989, and by the time I was 9 years old I was a bit of a cinephile. My parents did not restrict me from watching rated R films, and this allowed me to begin expanding my mind at an early age. When I became I full blown self proclaimed film nerd in my teens, I began to tweak out on the auteur filmmakers of the time who had made the jump from indie success to studio success, as I aspired to one day become a filmmaker myself. Amongst those auteurs I explored in the early 2000’s were Rodriguez, Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher, Wes Anderson etc. I have always admired Robert’s creativity, business sense, and Willingness to experiment and embrace new technologies. I truly admire his creative path, and him building his own movie studio in his home state of Texas is incredibly inspiring. It illustrates his absolute love of the art form, and his incredible business skills, as having the complete control of the production affords him not only complete creative control, but also the ability to produce big budget film experiences for a fraction of the cost that shooting in Hollywood or within the studio system would allow. This current investment opportunity on Republic is just the latest in an incredible track record of innovation from Robert, as he continues to embrace the future of filmmaking. When I first heard about this opportunity, i thought it was genius. I believe that crowd funding artists works (films, music albums, etc.) may very well be the future of the industry, as it allows auteurs to directly connect with the people who support them the most, and participate in their favorite creators creative endeavors. Needless to say, i am very thankful to be alive at this current time, and i am incredibly excited to see how this assignment pans out! 4 months ago
