Problem
Meaningful connections are hard to come by
Making new, meaningful connections is vital to our success, but actually doing so is left mostly up to chance or introductions. This creates a major roadblock for talented individuals who may not have the right contacts.
The way in which we connect for networking hasn't evolved to match the new ways in which we work. The pandemic has made this process even more difficult, causing professional networks to decline in growth by 17%.
Solution
Curate connections between like-minded people
Plain Sight levels the playing field by allowing you to be intentional about who you connect with. Instead of relying on being in the right place at the right time, we allow you to see the skills and interests around you to help you build thoughtful connections - no matter where you are.
Build your network with people who align with your goals and interests, both online and in-person.
Product
How it works
Step 1 - Find virtual spaces to check-in from anywhere, or check-in at physical spaces in your area.
Step 2 - Grow your network by following users in different spaces. Get notified when the type of profiles you're looking for check-in.
Step 3 - Engage and collaborate on your home feed with people checked-in with you, people you follow, and people following you.
Traction
A comeback story
Almost immediately after launching in October 2019, we secured a partnership with Delta Airlines to list all Delta Sky Lounges on the app in February of 2020.
When the pandemic hit, all partnerships and customers came to a screeching halt. Since July, our user base has increased by 250% to 7,000 users and overall activity has increased by 20% MOM, and 20% DAU/MAU ratio.
This increase comes as a result from promoting virtual communities for networking like General Assembly, as well as Covid-friendly physical spaces.
Customers
A community for go-getters
Our target users are people who we refer to as "go-getters". They are primarily freelancers, remote workers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and business professionals who work on-the-go.
They are actively seeking networking and business development opportunities, but may not always know the best way to find them.
Business model
B2B2C SaaS
Plain Sight uses a community-driven SaaS model for revenue. We charge businesses, brands, and organizations for promotion on the platform. We offer a way to build engaging communities, and provide hosts with data and analytics that inform their business decisions around programming and offerings.
The price to be listed on the platform varies depending on length of time and number of visitors allowed in a space. Fees are paid as one-time or monthly subscription. Plain Sight has generated $80k in revenue since last July. Individuals join for free.
Market
A $45B TAM
The global networking market was valued at $45B in 2018, and is set to grow dramatically year-over-year. Plain Sight operates within the Consumer Relationship SaaS market, valued at $40.2B.
We plan to grow our market by offering remote networking opportunities that are more flexible and COVID-friendly, and offering networking in less obvious spaces such as airports, arenas, and cafes.
Competition
Widening access to prevent missed opportunities
Plain Sight stands alone in offering users the ability to curate connections in an open community, as well as matching users based on shared skills, interests, and goals.
Unlike conferences and networking events, opportunities to connect don't have to end when the event ends - Plain Sight allows users to continue growing their network.

Funding
$1M in Pre-seed capital
Plain Sight has raised $1M from a diverse group of investors such as Dan Gilbert, Founder of Rocket Mortgage, and Jason White, former CMO of Beats by Dre.
