Founded in 2015 by Martin Köppelmann and Stefan George, Gnosis has spent nearly a decade building practical blockchain tools for managing complex financial interactions. Since launching Gnosis Chain in 2021, the company has played a key role in extending Ethereum’s reach and scalability.

Gnosis Chain is an Ethereum-compatible network secured by over 200,000 validators across 70 countries. It provides the foundation for some of Web3’s most widely used applications, including:

• Safe: a smart contract wallet platform securing over $100 billion in digital assets across 7 million users
• CoW Swap: a decentralized exchange offering MEV-protected trading
• Polymarket: the world’s largest prediction market, recently hitting $1.1 billion in monthly trading volume

Safe (formerly Gnosis Safe) is Gnosis’s flagship product and has become a critical standard for managing large crypto treasuries. Its multi-signature architecture ensures no single party can move funds unilaterally, which is essential for DAOs, funds, and foundations. It’s trusted by prominent users including Vitalik Buterin.

In 2025, Gnosis acquired HQ.xyz for $14.95 million, expanding into onchain business banking. Now rebranded as Gnosis HQ, the platform provides tools for stablecoin payments, fiat on- and off-ramps, financial reporting, and self-custodial corporate cards. This move also marked Gnosis’s expansion into Asia, with new headquarters in Singapore.

Gnosis is currently executing what it calls its “Gnosis 3.0 strategy” — shifting from infrastructure-only to offering full-stack, consumer-facing financial tools built on decentralized rails.
