Public solves real problems in investing: complexity, high barriers to entry, and limited access. Founded in 2019, the platform has systematically broken down barriers to investing, offering zero-commission trading across stocks, ETFs, options, bonds, treasuries, and cryptocurrencies.

The platform now serves over 3 million members, with funded accounts more than doubling in the past year. In December 2024 they raised $135 million led by Accel, bringing their total funding to over $400 million and maintaining a valuation around $1.2 billion.

Public is the only major broker paying users up to 50% of options trading revenue, with traders receiving rebates between $0.06 to $0.18 per contract. This is a unique revenue-sharing model that challenges traditional brokerage practices. High-yield cash accounts, IRA options with 1% contribution matches, and AI-powered research tools make investing more accessible.

They’ve just introduced Generated Assets, allowing investors to create AI-generated investment indices with a single prompt. Want an index of companies with flat organizational structures or CEOs under 40? Public's AI can generate it, complete with historical performance benchmarking.

Public has also recently announced a new multi-year partnership with Aston Martin's Formula One team. The partnership includes Aston Martin taking an equity position in Public, symbolizing a shared commitment to performance and innovation.

The company has made several acquisitions over the past few years, acquiring HyperCharts for financial data and Otis for alternative assets, and it intends to continue its M&A strategy as a means to grow features and expand internationally. In 2024 they launched the UK market.
