How we select
blockchain projects

At Republic, we strive to identify and present you with credible blockchain-based projects that can offer the best investment experience and opportunities. We carefully curate and select projects for you from thousands of applications.

The selection and review process:

Screening process
1

Initial screening

To start, all projects are tested using our 5 T's model:
Team - Technology - Tokenomics - Traction - Transparency

Team

Team
  • Is the core team specialized enough to execute in the space that the project is in?
  • Is the advisory team experienced in the industries the project is tackling?
  • Is there a sufficient professional network to cover the market?

Tech

Tech
  • Is this project uniquely enabled by blockchain technology?
  • Do the whitepaper and supporting documentation (i.e. pitch deck, executive summary)
  • make sense?

Traction

Traction
  • What is the existing investor interest?
  • Do they have a strong (or growing) social media presence and activity (Reddit, Telegram)?
  • What is their community like?

Transparency

Transparency
  • Is their Github active?
  • How open is their founding team?

Tokenomics

Tokenomics
  • How baked is the token into the product or solution?
  • Are project participants incentivized to use or hold the token?
  • Are the incentives set up to promote positive growth of the network?
2

Due diligence

Once we determine whether the project passes the 5 T’s, we kick off the formal due diligence process by looking into the project details and, if necessary, leveraging our own networks to help evaluate the following 9 factors:

Token model
Token model
How does the project create or intend to create value for the users in the network? How much value can it create?
Social impact
Social impact
How big is their impact and how will they fulfill their mission?
Market
Market
How large or disruptive can this project be? What’s their unfair advantage over competitors? Does it make sense as a blockchain project?
Technology
Technology
How is technology and the blockchain used to solve the problem? How practical are their applications and plans for implementation?
Token economics
Token economics
Do the token economics and incentives align with the project mission and serve their intended purpose? Are governance and mining mechanisms well thought out and mission-aligned?
Team
Team
In addition to the founding team, does the team have experienced advisors and driven employees?
Fact checking
Fact checking
Is the information presented in the pitch factual? (Note - we verify key contracts and important agreements in our due diligence process).
Terms
Terms
Are the funding goals reasonable for the project runway? Is the valuation of the token appropriate?
Eligibility
Eligibility
Does the project meet the legal criteria for crowdfunding? (Note - we do a financial and legal review, and run background checks on founders and officers. All issuing entities must be domiciled in the US).
3

Final decision

Due diligence extends to the end of the onboarding process. That’s when we make the final decision to launch the campaign, provided all the checks being met. Only after completing this process will the project go live on Republic, and we will continue to fact check and monitor the campaign to ensure investors are properly educated and protected.

How we select projects

The token and ICO space is early and rapidly evolving. With new projects and developments released every day, it‘s difficult to keep up, let alone discern which teams and projects are credible and worthwhile investments.

Our team’s educational background features some of the world’s best schools, including Harvard Business School, Stanford, Duke, Berkeley, Oxford and Cambridge, and others.

The Republic Crypto team brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience in investing, online fundraising, law, business, engineering, as well as brand and community building. We have been founders and investors, builders and operators, and we benefit from the support of a vast network of advisors, founders and investors.

Where we find projects

We find projects from a variety of our sources, including:

  • Referrals from our partners: sister companies, accelerators, startup hubs, etc.
  • Our team’s personal and professional networks
  • Online applications submitted through the website
  • Referrals from companies who have raised with us
  • Tech conferences & events around the world
  • Republic events
