Witnet Monthly Report — December 2018
Development update from the Witnet team
If this is your first time visiting our monthly updates, welcome! For some general background on Witnet and our technology, please read this 3 minute primer, take a look at our whitepaper, or check out our project’s “must-reads” digest.
Since our first monthly update covering the happenings in March 2018, we have been excited to share step-by step the progress we have achieved towards our project roadmap. We are mere weeks from the launch of our testnet in Q1 2019 and we have a lot to share in terms of technical progress, growth of the team and more.

With Sprint 4 spanning over a much needed holiday break, our developers are back from spending time with their families, catching up on rest and rallied gallantly to wrap up important final touches on the:
General: logging improvements to give more accurate and descriptive information about the network
Configuration Manager - created a partial_struct macro crate for Rust
Epoch Manager - increased precision of time between epoch
Session Actor - Improved peer discovery abilities as well as waiting for epoch 0 before bootstrapping the chain
Chain Manager (formerly known as “Blocks Manager”) - integration of transaction pools, unspent output pool, blocks pool and the block construction methods
Mempool and UTXO Manager - all added to the Chain Manager
Inventory Manager - A basic actor was created with hashable trait and impls, addItem and getItem. Will be finalized for testnet launch in the next two sprints.
Reputation Manager - We have the basic actor with a mocked reputation calculation as well as a Proof of Eligibility data structure, an improvement to elliptic curve asymmetric signatures
RADON Scripting Language - the warnings on incentive unsafe operators have been written
JSON-RPC Interface - getBlockChain method created
Command Line Interface (CLI) - getBlockChain method also written as well as the raw method with additional features to be added leading up to mainnet
Protocol - We’ve renamed our “Coinbase” transaction definition to be “Mint” and redefined transaction types into out output types (vt,co,re,ta)

💜 Team
This past month we welcomed Edita, Witnet’s Operations Assistant who has had an incredibly energizing start in the office! We also introduced you to Tomasz, a Backend Engineer joining our technical team as we approach our testnet launch. We’re super excited to have both of them in the team.
The Witnet Foundation still has open positions, so if you are aware of the impact a decentralized oracle network will have on the crypto landscape and want to get involved, be sure to check them out!
