A Boring Life nuts and honeys are made by hand in small batches with the finest ingredients and broad spectrum CBD extract derived from select hemp cultivators in the USA. We are proud to grow some of the ingredients on our farm in Boring, Oregon, as well as cultivate bees that make truly remarkable raw honey.

All of our products are made by our resident expert Chef Jen Johnson, previous Chef to President Obama, the Getty Family and Chez Panisse. Each hand crafted product is designed to promote wellness and to offer consumers a fast form of relief for their anxiety to improve overall wellness.

Introducing Our Newest Product Line: Raw Honey Infused with Fruits and Nuts 

Founder Serafina Palandech is from the small country of Montenegro, on the Baltic Sea. In Montenegro, her family preserves fruits and nuts in honey, a practice that has been done for centuries. Serafina wanted to bring this to the U.S. and create new and interesting taste profiles.

Stores are going nuts for our newest offering: Raw Honey Infused with Fruits and Nuts. On our farm, we keep bees and harvest the raw honey to make this beautiful and delicious honey that is infused with organic nuts, dried fruits, spices and herbs. We love bees, and in fact, our beekeeper tends to over 800 hives locally. All of our honey is raw and unfiltered, so it contains beneficial pollen and propolis. There are absolutely no additives. 

A Boring Life Honey is a  delicious appetizer when on a charcuterie plate with meats, cheeses, and nuts. It can also be used at breakfast time, served over oatmeal, yogurt or toast. Introduced at the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, our latest products are launching into major distributors and retailers across the country.

A Boring Life Cafe & Market Opening March 7, 2020 

Based in Damascus, Oregon, A Boring Life Cafe and Market is a one stop haven for East County residents, workers, and travelers alike. 

A Boring Life space is part cafe, part specialty food and wellness shop, and part floral/plant workshop. You can stop by in the morning for coffee and a handmade, gluten-free donut. Enjoy a lovely lunch menu with the flavors of the Mediterranean cooked by our own Chef Jen. You can also pick up a jar of local honey, a bit of bean to bar chocolate, locally grown hemp goods, and homewares made by local makers and farmers. If you are headed to a party, there are flowers, plants, and one-of-a-kind gifts. 

In grocery stores nationwide & direct to consumer

A Boring Life utilizes multiple channels of distribution: grocery, specialty, convenience and direct to consumer.

Since launch, we've received great interest from consumers, selling 3 units per week per store.

Our products are currently sold in 100 stores nationwide, including New Seasons, Erewohn, Market of Choice, Chucks, Berkeley Bowl, Di Bruno Bross and other natural food stores and CBD stores.  We are currently launching into distribution with DPI and PodFoods.

A Boring Life has received preliminary approval for launch into Sprouts stores (350 stores nationwide) in Q2 2020.

Having previously started and scaled organic food company Hip Chick Farms, we have strong relationships in the industry with buyers and press.  Founder and sales lead Serafina Palandech build distribution of Hip Chick Farms into over 18,0000 points of distribution in four years – including Walmart, Kroger, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Safeway, and sold onto QVC.

A Boring Life participated in the only cannabis focused accelerator, Canopy Boulder, in the Summer of 2019.  We received a $130K investment from Canopy Boulder.

A Boring Life reached the maximum raise on MicroVentures earlier this year, raising $107K in 45 days from 400 investors.

Our story

Chef Jen Johnson and Serafina Palandech founded A Boring Life in August 2018 after successfully exiting Hip Chick Farms, an organic chicken company that the pair started five years prior and quickly grew to national distribution within four years of launch.  The family moved to the town of Boring, Oregon, a rural agricultural community outside of Portland. They moved to a farm where they started farming lavender.

Chef Jen had started taking hemp extract for pain relief and focus six months prior. She was taken with the positive and natural effects of Hemp Extract – a remedy that offered so many benefits without any negative side effects, so she decided to start cooking with it. Chef Jen is a classically trained chef, having cooked previously for 10 years at Chez Panisse with Alice Waters and for 16 years for the prestigious Getty Family in San Francisco, as well as President Obama, prior to starting Hip Chick Farms.  

A few short months after exiting the prior organic food company, the pair created A Boring Life opening the next chapter on their culinary and brand building adventure. Having found a more relaxed way to live, Chef Jen wanted to share her extraordinary new snacks to highlight this phenomenal ingredient and super food – Hemp Extract.
