How Team Sunu is navigating COVID-19
We hope that you are doing well, staying healthy and safe. Our shared reality is sending shockwaves through each of our hearts, minds, families, and communities. There is so much happening so quickly, so many emotions, so many hoops to jump through to keep ourselves and the people around us safe. Our team is leaning into the challenge. We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of our employees, our customers, partners, stakeholders and everyone in the community. We are committed to amplifying the potential of our technology to solve problems, address critical needs, and facilitate human connection at this time of crisis, especially for those most vulnerable among us. Here is how our team is managing through the COVID-19 coronavirus time:
Team: Our team in Boston and Guadalajara are well, and have been working remotely from home. We’re a remote first company - meaning that working remotely has been a practice that’s infused into our company’s culture and communication infrastructure.
Product Development: We decided to delay the release of our new navigation app because of the recent public health orders for people to remain at home in order to reduce the spread of coronavirus. We are still going to release our private beta, but mostly to onboard our partners to the new features.
We've also shifted our focus to accelerate our R&D initiatives (Sunu Band 2) and optimize product quality before the release. We continue to make progress in the development of our next generation hardware. We have now selected a firm that will provide the prototyping, validation and manufacturing of our new hardware.
Business Development: We canceled business trips and events as we focus on engaging with our partners worldwide remotely. We continue to manage deals in our pipeline. We’re also providing new online content for prospecting new clients.
During this time where everyone is working remotely, we are focusing on training our partners and we’re developing a virtual Sunu Certification program with some of our leading partners. This certification will provide valid Continuous Education Credits (CEUs) to specialists, foster our relationship with the specialists who prescribe the product for subsidies and extend the value of our partners as they will be able to provide an official training that they charge at an hourly rate. Putting these strategies into place now will help us accelerate and scale our B2B sales when the health crisis returns to normal.
Manufacturing & Production: We currently maintain inventory to manage various orders within our pipeline and still fulfill online orders. We’re in close contact with our distribution center, ShipBob, FedEx and UPS, and have adjusted for shipping delays during this time.
Our manufacturing manager, Adrian Ramos, has 20+ years experience managing production when he was at P&G. He successfully managed the largest production plant in Mexico during the H1N1 epidemic and has implemented a lot of the practices, procedures and safeguard to our production facility.
Finally: We wish to thank all of our investors on Republic for their continued support. It’s important to remember the long-term view of investing in early-stage companies. Please stay tuned to our updates for important news and be sure to watch our semifinal episode on Meet the Drapers.
We hope you stay well, healthy and be safe.
Thank you,
Fernando, Marco & Team Sunu.
