In our April 6th update, we shared how Sunu is leading the conversation on enabling people with disabilities to thrive during COVID-19 as reported on CNN Health. We've continue our work in this important area as now more countries, states and cities are opening up - there is still a lot concern, stress and anxiety among people who are out in public spaces. Now social distancing is part of our 'new normal'. Public health officials, government and the private sector are pouring a lot of resources into ensuring that people in public places remain at least 6 feet (2 meters) apart. The use of 'contactless technology' is having a surge in applications from payments, security, entertainment, health screening, and will continue to enter into our everyday lives as social distancing practices are expected to be the norm for the foreseeable future. The Boston Business Journal selected Sunu among three companies whose technology will help people maintain social distancing.  

Using Sunu Band to know your proximity to obstacles, including objects and people that are within the environment is at the core of our technology. Sunu Band can detect people up to 16 feet (5.5 meters) away. Then haptic vibrations simply inform the user when they're getting closer. So using Sunu Band to practice social distancing is simply another user-case of our technology. And some of our blind and low vision users have already been reporting that Sunu Band is helping them maintain social distancing. That said, Sunu Band has the potential to capture the interest of a much broader group of people (and potential market). Perhaps Sunu Band can help those individuals who are immune-compromised at ensuring that they practice proper social distancing, relieving their stress and anxiety when out in public. Sunu Band may also be potentially useful in the service and hospitality industries. But regardless of its application, Sunu Band remains as a technology and tool that improves quality of life.
