This is a big bet on two talented and driven founders (highly recommend watching their pitch video). Founders Jack Southard and Nathan Jew first started building games together in freshman year of highschool and have since built over 20 games together. They became captivated by VR in 2017 and have been building for the Meta Quest platform ever since. Their 2nd VR game, Overboard, earned them an invitation to the Oculus Start program in 2018. They went on to win the Oculus Start Game Jam with their Indivisible VR experience and soon after launched Gods of Gravity, which quickly scaled to 250K MAU’s upon graduation to the Quest store from App Lab. They did all this while earning 4.0 GPA in college and graduating early from Cal Berkeley and UC Davis so they could keep building. They also brought on Steve Shockey (6+ years at E.A, Westwood Studios, Iron Keep) to round out the team, bring AAA experience, and set themselves up for scale. This could be the right team to execute on a bigger vision of becoming the Supercell of AR/VR, bringing to market several free-to-play social VR games for kids and teens that have inherent viral elements to Meta Quest and Apple’s Vision Pro.
