Live campaign timeline & investor updates

While your campaign is live, you'll be able to interact with investors on the platform. The discussion section and campaign updates are great ways to keep engaging with your audience.

Campaign updates: Why they matter!

The campaign updates section provides founders with a way to keep their investors apprised of any exciting developments! Remember that it may take multiple engagements to convince someone to invest. As your campaign progresses, you'll gain followers. Updates can help keep your followers engaged and it also shows any additional page visitors that raising capital is your top priority.

Over time, campaign updates can help convert your followers to investors and may even help convince existing investors to increase their investments. We encourage all founders to post an update at least once a week.
Some things to keep in mind:
  • Campaign updates are generally published within 1-2 business days of submission. If you would like to have an update published on the weekend, please reach out to your campaign manager to schedule this in advance.

  • Campaign updates should focus on business milestones. The rules for what can and cannot be said in an update are not always black and white, but our team does the best we can to flag potential compliance issues for you. Some topics that may require additional compliance review include: new executive hires, updates on additional fundraising, promissory language regarding investment returns.

  • New revenue figures cannot be used in campaign updates as these numbers were not included in the financials included in your Form C. However, you can discuss operational numbers (ex: 10,000 widgets last month).

The discussion board

While the offering is live, investors will be able to leave public comments and questions in the Discussion section at the bottom of the deal page. This helps us ensure that all investors have access to the same information.
Best practices:
  • Be responsive, forthright, and respectful. Answer questions on your discussion page with the same seriousness as you would with any angel investor.

  • You should typically answered questions within 24 hours. Unanswered questions are a red flag for investors (often they will cancel their investment if you're not being responsive in the Q&A)

What if an investor reaches out to me directly via social media, email, etc.?

Once the offering is live, all communications should be happening on-platform. If a potential investor reaches out off-platform, you have two options:
(1) Direct them to the discussion section of the offering page and continue the conversation there.
(2) Answer their question, then transcribe the question and answer to your FAQ section.

Can Republic delete posts on the discussion board?

Republic is limited in its ability to interfere with posts made on the discussion board. In general, we can only delete posts in which the user is posting spam or other vulgar, obscene or abusive content.

Official Policy:
1. The Portal and its employees are not allowed to participate in the communication other than to establish guidelines for communications, resolve questions regarding the Portal’s operations and remove abusive or potentially fraudulent communication.
2. The Portal reserves the right to remove posts that, in the exercise of its judgment, are repetitive (spam), misleading, abusive or offensive, such as by using derogatory language based on presumed race, sex, age or national origin or sexual preference or otherwise coarse or inappropriate language.
3. Care will need to be exercised by the team and the Designated Supervisor: e.g., the removal of a negative comment that is not abusive, etc., could be seen as the impermissible-provision of investment advice. Review and removal must be narrowly limited to the above.
