Check out this yummy recipe from local healthy delivery service, Prep To Your Door!
Problem
Convenience comes at a cost. Our food systems are devastating our health & the planet.
The way we grow, buy and process food is creating environmental consequences at unprecedented rates:
- deforestation
- soil degradation
- ocean pollution
- and ultimately, human health
The connection between food, health and planet is clear. However, even with an eagerness to change their eating habits, most Americans don’t know where to begin.
Solution
Delivering food that's good for you and the planet.
We deliver local, plant-based meals in reusable jars that are picked up and sanitized each week. Our closed loop, zero waste business model, facilitates the connection between human and planetary health.
Unlike typical meal delivery, Prep To Your Door creates a low impact:
- Zero waste packaging to curb plastic pollution
- Local supply chain to reduce food miles
- 100% organic, plant-based menu to minimize carbon emissions, improve soil health, and increase physical wellbeing.
Our 2020 Impact

2. In addition to our freshly prepared meals, choose from a variety of plant-based grocery items - such as nut milks, juices, yogurts, cheeses, cookies, and others.

4. Receive your delivery in a reusable bag and enjoy!
5. Place your materials back on your porch for pickup upon your next delivery.
We sanitize all returned packaging, and like new, use again for the next week’s deliveries.
Every Prep To Your Door meal is prepared in house by our team of chefs, sourcing locally as much as possible.
Our local CPG partners are vetted for the following criteria: zero waste packaging (reusable or compostable), organic, and plant-based, real food ingredients.

1. Word of mouth: 36.5%
2. Google: 29.6%
3. Other (press, social media, etc.): 33.9%
Our current LTV to CAC ratio is 9:1, which is 3x the industry standard for meal kits and e-commerce.
To date, we have not spent any material dollars on paid advertising.
Based on prior testing and peer comps, we anticipate paid ads through Facebook and Google will yield ~ 4 - 6x ROAS (return on ad spend) for new customer acquisition.
This represents a significant unexploited opportunity to accelerate customer acquisition by investing in paid advertising.

- 60% of revenue comes from the 5 meal plan (from $59.99)

Market
We occupy three of the fastest growing niches within grocery.
1. Online delivery - expected to more than double market share from $106B in 2020 to $250B in 2025.
2. Prepared foods - 31% of online shoppers want ready-to-eat meals
3. Plant-based foods - expected to reach $31.4B by 2026, from $14.2B in 2018
COVID-19 has driven major growth in global meal kit and e-grocery markets. 90% of e-grocery customers are expected to continue online shopping post-pandemic.
Brick and mortar grocery growth is stagnant at 3% YOY, whereas online grocery shopping has grown by triple digits. Major grocers such as Kroger, Whole Foods, and HEB are investing heavily, through acquisition in e-grocery, delivery, and prepared foods offerings.
- Market leaders such as Whole Foods did ~$3B in prepared food sales in 2017.
- HEB acquired local Texas food delivery startup, Favor, for their delivery technology platform
- Albertsons acquired meal-kit company Plated for $200m
Over time, we see ourselves as the leader in ready to eat plant-based grocery delivery, combining the prepared food strategy of Whole Foods, with the delivery technology of DoorDash.
We see the addressable market as broader than just meal prep alone. Our smoothies compete with Daily Harvest, our salads and bowls compete with Sweetgreen and True Food Kitchen, and our retail items compete with grocery stores like Whole Foods. We've added over 100+ items across five different categories and will continue to develop more.
Competition
Say no to Greenwashing.
The demand for sustainability is here.
Our customers see through greenwashing, and competitors attempts to switch to "fully recyclable" or "biodegradable" plastic packaging miss the mark.
Further, our food is made fresh every single week, whereas many meal prep companies are shipping frozen dinners inside plastic filled boxes.
As a leading zero waste company in the space, we have built proprietary systems and processes to build our circular model.
While competitors sacrifice quality for convenience, our customers don't have to make that trade off.
This is easy, "fast food" that checks all the boxes.
Vision and strategy
Scale across the nation, without the waste.
We have generated $1m+ in subscription revenue in the last twelve months.
