Commonly Asked Questions
We want to start by saying thank you! We have been overwhelmed (and so has the site ;) by your excitement and participation in our company. I wanted to address a few of the most common questions being asked:
1. Q: Help! My credit card is showing multiple charges due to trying to submit several times. What should I do? A: The duplicates that users are seeing on their statements are duplicate authorizations (they are "pending"). Republic is reversing the extra authorizations so only the amount of your actual investment will ultimately be pulled. If you see duplicates please reach out to Republic directly at investors@republic.co.
2. Q: There was an error confirming my commitment but I was charged. Did my commitment go through? A: There were a large number of investors who saw this error message when trying to confirm their commitment but many did in fact go through. To check the status of your investment, please head to republic.co/portfolio. If you see "committed" next to your investment, then you're all set! Again, if you see multiple charges in your banking statement, they are authorizations and will be removed in a few days. You will only be charged once. If you are not seeing an investment in your portfolio but a charge was attempted on your payment method, Republic has taken notice of this and will work with you to rectify the situation. Any charges or authorizations will be reversed so they recommend that you head back to https://republic.co/bucket-list and try investing again. You will only be charged once.
3. Q: Why can't I invest if I'm from Ontario, Canada? A: The Ontario SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) has asked Republic to not accept investments from residents of Ontario. We so wish you could invest as well but are subject to their regulations. We feel your support even though you aren't able to invest.
4. Q: My passport is expired and I can't renew it due to COVID restrictions/limitations in my country. Can I still invest? A: Republic is aware of this and will consider verifying expired passports in areas where people have been unable to renew. Please reach out to investors@republic.co to complete ID verification.
5. Q: Can I invest on behalf of a minor? A: US Securities law requires investors be over the age of 18. All named investors must have a valid US driver's license or Passport.
Again, thank you for being here. We can't wait to make our dream a reality!
