Brass Knuckle Films Gets the Joe Rogan Experience

Robert had the opportunity to talk film, life and BRASS KNUCKLE with the world’s top podcaster and fellow Austinite, Joe Rogan, this week.

I had the honor of accompanying Robert to Joe Rogan’s studio for the taping of their podcast together. What an experience! Joe runs a tight ship, and I had a blast feeding off the energy and watching two masters of their respective crafts meet for the first time.

They talked about facing up to criticism and how your best work comes when you commit to a body of work.

Robert shared some of the lessons that came back to him from rereading Rebel without a Crew when he was preparing to record the audio book.

He told stories of how working with so-called “difficult” actors like Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke turned into some of his best experiences.

They also went deep on how great artwork can inspire great movies, like Frank Miller’s work did for Robert with Sin City. And how Frank Frazetta’s legendary artwork could be the inspiration for another Conan movie. Frazetta has always been one of Rogan’s all time favorite artists. Robert talked about how Frazetta inspired the Salma Hayek character in From Dusk Till Dawn, how Frazetta created the now famous movie poster and the way the artist’s work transports you to another world.  That was a special interaction to treasure.

Robert even tried to convince Joe to come act in one of our Brass Knuckle films. Joe didn’t accept, but watch closely and maybe you’ll catch a glimmer of excitement in his eyes. Challenge accepted.

You can check out the podcast on Spotify, Apple, YouTube, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Positively, a watershed moment for consumers of the genre(s) and creators in general. I intend to relisten to JRE #2310 and commit to my One Notes for future reference. This was an unexpected boost to my week. Thanks for your efforts to bring us valuable content.

It was such a good episode. I
Actually watched it twice, three hours after I finished it, I told my lady about it, she got so interested. So I watched it again with her. It was a very powerful interview. We took away so many helpful tips, suggestions, and methods to navigating life. This is exactly why I invested

It was an engaging conversation and flew by. I’ve been a fan of his films since the beginning, so it was cool to get insights into his world. I wasn’t expecting it to be so motivational from a betterment perspective, which was an added bonus and very inspiring. I’m here investing because of the appearance. Excited to be a part of this

Loved Robert’s breakdown of his creative process. Brass Knuckle Films has seriously impressed me. As a first-time investor and potential collaborator, I’m all in for what’s next. Thanks, Robert, Alexis, and Kevin—keep the hits coming!

LOVED the FRAZETA conversation! A master film maker talking about a master illustrator. I always wondered what originals Robert had. Also appreciate the love for Sebastian Kruger's art. I went to the same workshop a year before RR did and had the same experience. There are no magical tools to make a painting. Seeing someone make a thing in person is always more eye opening and takes away the mystery. Also watching Kruger attack the canvas with no hesitation was super inspiring. All art and creative journeys should be approached that way. Don't blink!

This is the first interview that has truly inspired me since Mark Duplass's speech "The Calvary Isn't Coming" at SXSW - which helped me make my first feature. Sometimes we just need a reminder we are already doing it and to just trust the process. Many artists, I imagine, will return to this interview each year to remind themselves. I know I will! Bravo

This is how I heard about this project. I'm a huge admirer and fan of Robert so when the opportunity came in to feel like I have a tiny hand in participating in one of his projects I couldn't resist. The interview was spectacular.

David Granado @kurt-frazier This and his Lex Fridman interview were fascinating. And the Tim Ferriss interview did even more deep dive on his creative process and attitude.

I was already a fan. But these made me a mega fan of his. I even whipped up a quick note card web site for myself based on his whole process. Can't wait to see the wheels start to turn here!

Kurt Frazier @david-granado Agreed. I'm currently re-reading Rebel without a Crew and that combined with everything else has got me super pumped. I've been a huge fan since El Mariachi. I even still have my original VHS .

I loved every interview . From SXSW , with Tim Ferriss, With Lex Fridman , and Joe rogans podcast. I am not joking the day before it aired on Joe rogan I was watching "Conan the Destroyer " because I had not seen the sequel at all. It was on Netflix. I was like why not. I loved the first film and the artwork! I read some comics and Robert E Howards work. So seeing them talking about it .... I was like one of the Bros geeking out ! haha , I know big creative action packed things are coming to Brass Knuckle Films. Im glad to be here with all you guys that have passion for films. Thank you Alexis Garcia , Robert Rodriguez , Kevin Dartt . and we just made $ 1.5 Million ! !!! while i was writing hahaha! that badass.

Watched it, forced everyone who works for me to watch it, bought everyone some index cards and I have so may idea’s for movies it’s insane been waiting for an opportunity like this. I believe I’m one of the most creative people on the planet, i can make anything an have innovated the furniture industry in the uk. I’m the reason patterned printed fabric sofas exist, everyone has tried to duplicate them but when you innovate, you create new ways of making things. I believe with Robert’s index cards method I’m now unstoppable. Thank you for doing the Joe Rogan Podcast! Thank you for reigniting the fire in my heart. X

I’ve been listening to Rogan since it was just him and Redband and a laptop and a diehard Rodriguez fan since Mariachi. THIS is the episode I have been waiting for. The fact that it’s surrounding BKF is epic.

Scott Conditt @fernando-martinez-5 Hell yeah! It was everything I hoped it would be. Two true pioneers discussing their journeys and similar passions. Legit hope they stay lifelong friends and continue to grow community in Texas together. *Fun takeaway: I always thought if there’s a Director who can convince Joe to act in a flick, it’s Robert. Haha.
