Founders
Michael grew up in a town of 360 people along the Van Duzen River. His father worked in fire lookouts for the Forest Service. Outdoor adventure was a way of life.
Michael left the sticks for a career in software development in the fast-paced environment of Silicon Valley. It was fine.
After a series of devastating life-altering events, he sold his fancy car, bought a trusty Land Cruiser, and ran back to the mountains. It saved his life.
With the determination to make outdoor adventure accessible to everyone, he started a blog and jotted down some Founding Principles. People agreed, and the community grew quickly.
Finding poor resources for the rapidly growing overland community, he decided to build better tools.
