Market
The India Opportunity
The creator economy in India is in its early innings but has potential to match that of China due to its population size and demographic similarities.
In India, there are 4 million creators today and rapidly growing. In 2014, there were 16 YouTube channels with 1M+ subscribers; today there are 1,200+ channels.
Growth in the demand & supply of the creator economy in India will also be supported by broader internet penetration rates. Today, there are 500M internet users in India. In 2014, it was 125M. Estimates show that they will be 1bn+ internet users by 2025.
India’s demographics is overall very young, the target demographics for the creator economy: 50% under the age of 25 with median age of 29.
All of the above makes India one of the most promising markets for the advent of solopreneurs and entrepreneurs, all of whom would be looking for tools that will enable them to make money.
We want to be the default solution for the India market first and then expand globally.
Competition
By creators. For creators.
Most of our competition:
- Don't have a creator in their team;
- Are attacking one part of the problem; and
- Not raised from creators.
TagMango:
- Our founder’s a creator himself;
- We are building one-stop shop, a creator need not look anywhere else;
- Turning our customers into owners.
Vision and strategy
Become the default
one-stop shop
The big vision is to become the 6th logo behind the truck. If today you see Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, & Twitter—the 6th logo will be TagMango hosting all monetized interactions between a creator and their audience.
We aim to become the default shop for creators to sell both their digital and physical products (in the future) as well.
Strategy
The plan is to first capture the massive India market before going global.
The winner of the creator economy is the company that’s able to attract the top 5% to their platform, as the long-tail will follow wherever the niche leaders are.
In India, we’ve onboarded the leading player in each niche onto our platform to lock-in the market.
To build an even stronger community, we launched India’s first creator house, a community space hosting events and meet-ups for creators. Since the launch, we’ve unlocked over 100+ cross-creator collaborations, had over 100mil+ social media mentions and increased organic sign-ups by 75%.
This has allowed us to capture significant market share in the India market.
Use of Funds
Funds will primarily be deployed to:
a. Engineering (40%): Expand features on the platform, including adding the ability for creators to sell physical products as well;
b. Marketing (40%): Customer acquisition and building brand awareness to increase market share;
c. Operations & Processes (20%)
Funding
$2.4M raised to date
